Lots of pics of our new sweet angel

Ok, first off I apolagize up front for posting way too many pictures. I could not choose this time. She has so many expressions, and I just love the pics we have gotten. One more reason for so many pics is usually when I am uploading in Guatemala it takes 5x as long, this time it was so fast. I am so glad we made the trip. I really feel like it is a good transition. There have definitley been moments where it is very evident she is grieving the loss of the only mom she has known. I have had a few wonderful conversations with attatchment and adoption counselors and they have assured me she would grieve even this young. The best advice I have gotten is to stay with her in the feeling, don't try to distract her or fix it. This is tough as a parent, we want our children to be happy. Pray for her little tender heart that she falls in love with her forever family. I just keep holding her and praying over her that she is bonding and falling in love like we have with her. Ok enough blabber on to way too many pictures. Thanks for all the comments. . . . they are so sweet and I absolutley love hearing from everyone. I read them to Lucy too. She can't wait to meet you all:)

We are off to Antigua tomorrow where I spent a month when I was in college for Jan term. Where God first planted the seeds of loving the children of Guatemala. Miss you all. . . . thanks for indulging me by looking at 8,000 pictures of our new sweet angel. Will post more later. Thanks again for the wonderful comments.

Yes.......first one to comment. Scoring brownie points with the first lady.
If she's half as cute in person, as she is in the pictures, I'M DONE FOR.
Love you and miss you so much.

She is so smart and isn't it hard to be a parent and have to have your children go through growing and pain and life? But she will be so strong from it and it will help make her into the person she is supposed to be - by the looks of it she is supposed to be an angel! Have a great, safe trip tomorrow - hello to Margo and give Lucy a squeeze for me. I get to swim with the boys on Thursday - I have my special mints for them and we will have a blast!!!

Love, Patty

Wow--what a touching post Darcy--you are an amazing writer. You have an amazing perspective on just loving her, holding her and praying for her. You are an amazing mom--Lucia's love for you and your whole family will grow each moment she is with you. WE are having a great time with Kinkade and Keagan. Here are a few quotes from the day."Don't you think Lucia looks so cute in pigtails." "McDonalds sure makes great food to eat."(Yes--we took them to McDonalds)--they miss you and send their love.

It is evident by her smiles that she is already in love with you. What a lucky baby to have so many people to love her.

Here, here! Definitely not too many photos.

As far as the grieving process, you are an amazingly gifted mom and we all know that you will be everything that Lucia needs during this transition. In the end, it will only lead her to trust and love you more.

Be safe and well.

First of all, there is no such things as too many pictures!

Did you realize that in just 14 days now (2 weeks!) she'll be HOME? For good?? Last time we chatted it was 19 days. Now it's 14. Then it will be 10. Then 6 . . . do you get the picture? WOWEEE!!!

Thanks for taking the time to post pictures and keep your fan club updated.

I know "goodbye" won't be easy this time, but it sure won't be as hard as the last times, will it?

Hang in there, you are SO CLOSE.

Love you -
Carla

so, it's almost midnight on thursday night and i should be in bed, but checked your blog (as i often do before heading to bed) and was filled with complete joy after reading your post and seeing the photos...so much joy that the tears are rolling down my cheeks. My girls are fast asleep, but i think i need to give them each an extra squeeze...children are the most amazing blessing. Your post reminded me to count my own blessings again.

A whole new life is right around the corner, keep your faith every step of the way and all the pieces will come together as He so perfectly has planned.

Love you all dearly, KC

Hi Lucy!
You are so beautiful little one. Keep smiling because God has created a perfect place for you in the heart of your new family. I am so excited to watch you grow up amongst people who love you more than you will ever, ever know.
xoxo

Darc...this is a poem that someone gave my mom when we adopted Molly. You have probably already heard it but in case you haven't,I think it's beautiful:

Legacy of Adoption

Once there were two women, neither knew the other
One you do not remember, the other you call mother.
One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name
One gave you the seed of talent, the other gave you an aim.
Two very different lives shaped yours into one
One became your guiding star, the other was your sun.
One gave you emotions, and one calmed your fears
One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried your tears.
The first gave you life, the second taught you to live it.
The first gave you a need for love, the second was there to give it.
One gave you up—it was all that she could do,
The other prayed for a child—God led her straight to you.
And now you ask me through your tears,
The age-old question of all the years,
Heredity or Environment, which are you a product of?
Neither darling, neither ... just two different kinds of Love.
